The Derby City of Sanctuary group launch event was a great occasion with 250 people attending, about half being free guest places for member of our refugee communities. Twelve more local groups asked to be affiliated, and messages of support came from the Mayor of Derby, the Bishop of Derby and the Dean of Derby Cathedral. Lots of magnificent food from many of our refugee communities was served – this went so well that the volunteers are considering creating a business together to run similar events! There were also great entertainers from each community throughout the evening – here are a few pictures of the event.

Magnificent food from many of our refugee communities was served – this went so well that the volunteers have created a food business together called LAZIZ offering event and private catering and a street food outlet. There were also entertainers from each community throughout the evening.
