An invitation from Derby Theatre:- Dear neighbours and members of the community, Derby Theatre is having a pizza party and you are all invited!
To celebrate and coincide with the incredibly popular production of Pizza Shop Heroes, on in the Studio on Saturday 2 February, we invite you to come and join us for a slice of pizza, music and fun on the same day…a chance to relax, share stories and meet new friends, a chance for people of different cultures, communities and backgrounds to get together, a great opportunity to ‘meet your neighbour’.
Meet Your Neighbour will be at Derby Theatre in the upper foyer from 3.30pm until 5pm on Saturday 2 February (between performances of Pizza Shop Heroes at 2pm & 5pm) and this social event is open to all and completely FREE.
This Meet Your Neighbour event follows on from our first successful gathering of this name and nature, held at the Theatre in December 2018. The first one was hosted by Derby-based theatre company, Maison Foo, in partnership with Derby Theatre, Derby Refugee Advice Centre and Upbeat Communities…and we are really excited to be hosting a second, where we look forward to welcoming more neighbours from the local area.
Why not combine attending Meet Your Neighbour with seeing a performance of Pizza Shop Heroes. EXTRA PERFORMANCES ADDED of Pizza Shop Heroes due to popular demand – but PLEASE NOTE: ticket availability for the show, at different times, is now extremely limited, so book soon.
Pizza Shop Heroes, an exciting and insightful piece of theatre that puts refugees centre stage, is a story of male and cultural identity, of family and fatherhood, a lyrical collage of memories, hopes, dreams and imagined realities. From prisons in Libya and Greece to conversations with absent Mothers to raising the next generation of sons. Pizza Shop Heroes is powerful, celebratory, affirming and authentic.
