Christian Aid exhibition “Uprooted” 15th – 30th June in the Cathedral: a moving photographic exhibition featuring stories of displaced people in Nigeria, Iraq and Kenya – with a launch reception following Evensong 6pm 16th June.
“Refugee Tales” with Patrick Gale and Marina Lewcyka June 2nd 11am at Deda . Event in partnership with Derby Book Festival – tickets from Derby Book Festival.co.uk. True stories of those seeking sanctuary who have been detained which offer a glimpse into the untold suffering of asylum seekers today and the power and prevalence of the human spirit.

      Exhibition of refugee and asylum seeker art 17th – 21st June 10am – 4pm at the Derby Refugee Advice Centre/ Bosnian Centre, 99 Curzon St Derby DE1 1LN
      “Home from home” Digital art exhibition showcasing works from migrants and refugees exploring their stories through creativity 17th June 1pm -4pm and ongoing daily 10am – 4pm until 21st June at Artcore, 3 Charnwood St Derby DE1 2GT
       “Coming to Derby: Stories of migration” in the new World Cultures Gallery Derby Museum 18th June 12 – 3pm. An informal afternoon sharing stories of migration connected to Derby with a TV screen showcasing a University of Derby MA student photography project.
       Film screening of “The Movement” 19th June at the Multi Faith Centre 6pm – 8pm followed by Q and A with the film director Sharon Walia. Free event but booking with Eventbrite: the-movement-film-screening-social-event-tickets
      Multi-Faith tour for Refugee Week 20th June 10am – 2pm. Arrive from 9.30am at the Open Centre, 152 Pear tree Rd DE23 6QD – booking with Eventbrite
     “Journeys of Destiny” at Derby Theatre (studio) 20th June 7pm – true story of Syrian refugee Saad Alkassab with young people from Derby Theatre youth groups and young refugees in the city. Tickets £8 from the Box Office tel. 593939
WEA drop in and refreshments 20th June 1-3pm at The Mill, Lodge Lane, Derby DE1 3HB As part of this a volunteer will be sharing his journey and how to volunteer, what WEA can offer refugees and others.
     “Early Muslim refugees” 21st June MFC 12.30pm. A talk on “You, me, and those who came before” –with Ali Akbar, university chaplain
     DRS Open Day 22nd June 10am – 3pm at St Anne’s Church Hall Whitecross St DE1 3NE. Come and see the work of Derbyshire Refugee Solidarity , buy some jumble and join them for refreshments, tombola and games.
