We would like to invite you to join us on Sunday 19th September from 12.30-4pm for the launch of our Meet Your Neighbour Installation and community street party! If the weather is on our side, we will be on Derby’s Cathedral Green (outside the new Museum of Making). If the weather is against us, we will be just inside the museum in the Italian bistro.

Hello Neighbour, welcome to our street, we’re having a party and you’re invited!….

From sunrise mountains to outer space and joyous swimming to green fingered gardening, the neighbours on our street would love to spend a moment or two chatting with you about the things they love in life.

The Meet Your Neighbour installation sees artists and designers from around the world fuse together audio storytelling, visual art and new technologies to bring the tales and passions of neighbours currently seeking sanctuary in the UK to life.

‘It has been a great struggle for me as an artist in the UK. It’s a very competitive industry. Being part of this project opened up opportunities and introduced me to an amazing network. It also gave me the confidence of being the artist who I am anywhere. This project touched the traveller in me, and I found myself painting our mutual experiences in life. It is a privilege to be part of this cause.’ Maha Alomari, Yemeni Artist for Meet Your Neighbour

Never has there been a more important time to welcome those currently seeking sanctuary to our community, and we really hope you can join us.

‘This project helped me to take first step after I lost everything, gave me hope, confident, be useful, and I believe now that nothing is impossible.’ Basema – Neighbour and Project Story Teller

There will be community events throughout the day, created and hosted by the Creative Sanctuary Group…

‘We invite you to share with us love and friendship. Eat with us, drink with us, dance and chat with us’ love from the Creative Sanctuary Group x
