Bishop Alastair has set out in an excellent article in the Derby Telegraph both the background to the current crisis and the longer term issues we must consider after meeting the immediate needs of refugees. He says we must be “generous in the first step of compassion and companionship, and realistic and effective in contributing towards the second step of the restoration and long term health of refugees”.
